Restructuring partner Alice Eaton was featured in a Debtwire Q+A, “ION Analytics’ Spotlight on Trailblazing Women - Part I,” published in honor of International Women’s Day. Alice discusses her most influential mentors and offers advice to those starting out in the restructuring field.
A legal career is a “marathon, not a sprint,” she notes, and reaching the highest echelons of a legal practice requires lawyers to pace themselves. “Early in my career, I was so enthusiastic about everything I was doing, I would sometimes confuse activity with progress or act before understanding the case strategy,” Alice says. “Over time I learned that the path to great client outcomes is to set the strategy, learn as much as I can about what the opponents want (or fear) and then chart a path forward accordingly. I still have to remind myself to be patient.”
