Katherine Forrest to Speak on Text and Data Mining in Age of AI

Digital Technology Group Chair Katherine Forrest will participate in a panel, “Does litigation really solve everything? A litigation tracker,” as part of the ninth session of the World Intellectual Property Organization’s WIPO Conversation series. The theme of this session is “Training the Machines – Bytes, Rights and the Copyright Conundrum.” Katherine’s panel will analyze the specifics of ongoing or recently concluded court cases involving text and data mining (TDM); examine how lessons learned from past litigation in the technology IP space may apply to generative AI’s use of scraped data; and consider the circumstances in which litigation may be a good option going forward.

The virtual panel will take place on March 14.
