Katherine Forrest Discusses Pitfalls and Transformative Potential of AI in the Legal Profession on Bloomberg Law Podcast

March 21, 2024

Digital Technology Group Chair Katherine Forrest spoke with Bloomberg Law’s On The Merits podcast about the growing pains of AI in the legal profession. In the March 21 episode of the podcast, “Why Are Lawyers Still Making Bad AI Mistakes?” Katherine discusses why AI is not yet appropriate to use in many legal settings, and shares some of the useful ways lawyers can take advantage of AI technology right now.

Generative AI is “already starting to transform the legal profession in really remarkable ways,” Katherine says, but “it’s not nearly at the level of capability today in 2024 that it’s going to be at in a year, let alone two or three years. We’re going to see a very significant velocity of change, and we’re going to see the elimination of the hallucinations, and we’re going to see far more capabilities than we’re even thinking of today.”
