Jeh Johnson and Liza Velazquez to Speak at ABA Litigation Section Annual Conference

Litigation partners Jeh Johnson and Liza Velazquez will participate in discussions at the American Bar Association’s 2024 Litigation Section Annual Conference. Secretary Johnson and Judge J. Michael Luttig, both of whom co-chair the ABA Task Force for American Democracy, will take part in a plenary session, “Our Enduring Democracy.” The session will discuss what the non-partisan task force has learned about current threats to our democracy and the rule of law, and the role lawyers can play in restoring, preserving and protecting them.
Liza will participate in “Consequences to Diversity and Inclusion Post-Affirmative Action: ‘To Be or Not to Be,’” which will discuss the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision to end affirmative action in higher education. The panel will delve into how the decision has impacted private employers that value diversity and other unique characteristics of diverse workforces.
The conference will take place in Washington on May 1 to 3. Liza’s panel will take place on May 2 at 1:45 p.m. ET; Secretary Johnson’s plenary program will take place on May 3 at 9 a.m. ET.
