October 11, 2012

Of counsel Sidney Rosdeitcher and associate James Beha published a preview of the highly publicized affirmative action case, Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin. The case concerns the University of Texas at Austin's (UT) policy of considering race when admitting students who do not automatically qualify for admission under state law. A Texas law requires the admission to UT of students ranked in the top 10% of their Texas public high school class.

The case has drawn over 90 amicus briefs, including one submitted by Paul, Weiss on behalf of the American Bar Association in support of UT, that was prepared by partners Ted Wells and David Brown, and associates Yahonnes Cleary and Paula Viola. Counsel Sidney Rosdeitcher assisted on the matter.

The analysis, "Supreme Court Preview: Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin-Affirmative Action Admissions," appeared on the Brennan Center for Justice website on October 3.
