Steve Banks to Moderate Roundtable at NYS Office of Court Administration’s Access to Justice Law School Conference

Pro bono special counsel Steve Banks will moderate the keynote roundtable discussion, “Cultivating Civil Legal Justice Leaders to Address the Structural Challenges of Poverty, Injustice and Inequality,” as part of the 2023 Access to Justice Law School conference organized by the New York State Office of Court Administration’s Permanent Commission on Access to Justice in partnership with the University at Buffalo School of Law.

Steve’s roundtable discussion will examine how law schools, legal services organizations, government entities and law firms can inspire and challenge the next generation of lawyers to ensure the promise of equal access to justice is a reality for all. More than a decade ago, Steve was an inaugural member of the Access to Justice Commission before leaving his position as head of the Legal Aid Society to become the NYC Social Services Commissioner in 2014.

The annual conference is designed to promote access to justice collaborations among New York’s 15 law schools and the state’s civil legal services stakeholders, including the courts and the private bar.

Steve’s roundtable will take place virtually on March 8 at 1:15 p.m. ET.
