Paul, Weiss Partners With HIAS to Help Refugees Obtain Green Cards

Paul, Weiss hosted a clinic in collaboration with HIAS, a Jewish American nonprofit that provides humanitarian aid and assistance to refugees, to assist refugees in gaining lawful permanent residency status in the U.S. This is the third year in a row that Paul, Weiss and HIAS have partnered together on this pro bono initiative.

In the coming weeks, Paul, Weiss attorneys will interview refugee clients and prepare legal documents to assist in their adjustment-of-status applications, allowing our clients to obtain a green card and lawful permanent residence. Clients this year include individuals and families from Myanmar, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Venezuela. Twenty Paul, Weiss attorneys are assisting with this clinic and will continue to represent their clients throughout the entire application process.

The Paul, Weiss team is supervised by corporate partners Manuel Frey and Tim Cruickshank, and includes corporate counsel Caitlin Kelly and Edward Sadtler, and associates Lodovico Amianto, Joaquin Aguinaco, Sarah Calderone, Zachary Denkensohn, Allison Flor, Jessica Fong, Adam Friedland, Rita Gilles, Dovber Gopin, Emily Hong, Nisheet Karthikeyan, Benjamin Krohnengold, Emil Risk, Sara Siddiqi, Tina Vulevic, Steven Wang and Diana Windrim. The clinic was organized by pro bono attorney Emily Donohoe.
