Pro Bono Client Reunited With Children After Years of Separation
Earlier this month, Paul, Weiss helped reunite an immigrant client with her two sons after years apart. The client had been the victim of domestic violence by her U.S. citizen husband. This abuse made her eligible for immigration relief under the Violence Against Women Act, which she sought in 2014. After the client received her green card in 2016, the team began working to obtain visas for her teenage sons, who had remained in Honduras throughout this time. After extensive work through the State Department, the boys received their visas and were finally reunited with their mother.
The Paul, Weiss team included litigation associate Annie Schlapprizzi, who was supervised by litigation partner Jane O’Brien.
