Katherine Forrest and Catherine Nyarady Discuss AI and Access to Justice at NYS Court System Technology Conference

Litigation partners Katherine Forrest and Catherine Nyarady spoke on a panel, “AI and Access to Justice,” as part of the New York State Unified Court System Permanent Commission on Access to Justice’s 2023 Technology Conference on April 19. The panel explored how AI tools used in connection with human resources, healthcare, education, credit, lending and online searches can incorporate algorithmic, training and other modeling biases that can lead to potential disparate impact. The panel also examined how these issues are being articulated and addressed by the companies licensing the tools, and in regulations at the state and federal levels.
