Paul, Weiss Obtains Civil Rights Settlement for Pro Bono Client

Paul, Weiss obtained a favorable settlement for a client who suffered serious injuries due to corrections officers' misconduct while he was an inmate at Rikers Island. Because of the settlement, the client will be able to afford the surgery he needs to partially repair his injured leg. Paul, Weiss conducted discovery and eventually obtained key video evidence that was not originally produced by defendants. Paul, Weiss took a deposition of a named defendant and identified an expert witness who was able to diagnose the injury. This evidence ultimately increased the value of the claim, resulting in a favorable recommendation from the Magistrate Judge at a settlement conference.
