Paul, Weiss Announces Election of 11 New Partners

Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP is pleased to announce that 11 attorneys have been elected to the firm’s all-equity partnership, effective January 1, 2023: Paul D. Brachman, Lina Dagnew, Luke Jennings, Christodoulos Kaoutzanis, Andrew D. Krause, Sean Mitchell, Erin J. Morgan, Anastasia V. Peterson, Maury Slevin, Kyle Smith and Robert D. Tananbaum. All are resident in the New York office except for Mr. Brachman, Ms. Dagnew and Mr. Smith, who are resident in the Washington, D.C. office.

Paul D. Brachman will become a partner in the Litigation Department. Paul is experienced in a wide range of commercial litigation and regulatory matters, including representing clients in antitrust and other complex civil cases in state and federal courts and at trial. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from New York University School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from the University of New Hampshire.

Lina Dagnew will become a partner in the Litigation Department. Lina’s practice focuses on internal investigations, commercial litigation, white collar defense and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) investigations; she has represented domestic and international clients in pharmaceutical, financial services, manufacturing, media and other industries. She earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her B.S., summa cum laude, from Manchester University.

Luke Jennings will become a partner in the Corporate Department. A member of the Capital Markets Group, Luke represents sponsors, public and private companies, and investment banks in initial public offerings, equity offerings, debt offerings, exchange offers and other liability management transactions, deSPAC transactions, and private capital and special situations matters. He earned his J.D., with honors, from Emory University School of Law and his B.A., with distinction, from the University of North Carolina.

Christodoulos Kaoutzanis will become a partner in the Corporate Department. A member of the Capital Markets Group, Chris advises financial sponsors and issuers on public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, leveraged finance transactions, and general corporate and securities law matters. He earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.S.F.S., magna cum laude, from Georgetown School of Foreign Service. Chris served as a Navy SEAL in the Special Forces Division of the National Guard of Cyprus, earning the rank of Sergeant.

Andrew D. Krause will become a partner in the Corporate Department. A member of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group, Andrew advises public and private companies, private equity funds and financial institutions on mergers and acquisitions, carve-outs, joint ventures and other significant transactions. He earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.A., with distinction, from Yale University.

Sean Mitchell will become a partner in the Restructuring Department. Sean represents debtors, equity owners, creditor groups, regulatory bodies and distressed investors in a broad range of restructuring matters, including chapter 11 cases, cross-border matters, out-of-court restructurings and bankruptcy-related acquisitions. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his B.A., with honors, from Harvard University.

Erin J. Morgan will become a partner in the Litigation Department. Erin specializes in complex civil litigation and trial practice and has experience in state and federal courts in disputes involving bankruptcy and restructuring, product liability, intellectual property and antitrust, as well as in consumer class actions and other commercial litigation. She earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law and her B.A., summa cum laude, from Bard College at Simon’s Rock.

Anastasia V. Peterson will become a partner in the Corporate Department. A member of the Finance Group, Anastasia represents alternative asset management firms and their portfolio companies in a broad range of transactions, including leveraged buyouts, structured investments, fund financings, holdco financings and OTC derivatives. She completed her Legal Practice Course at the University of Law and earned her LL.B. from King’s College London.

Maury Slevin will become a partner in the Corporate Department. A member of the Private Funds Group, Maury advises on the organization and operation of private investment funds, including private equity funds, credit funds, hedge funds, growth funds, hard assets funds and secondaries funds, structured product funds and hard asset funds. He earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and his B.A., cum laude and with distinction, from Cornell University.

Kyle Smith will become a partner in the Litigation Department. Kyle has experience in antitrust, trade secrets, intellectual property and complex commercial litigation, including at trial, and has represented defendants and plaintiffs in federal and state trial and appellate courts, as well as in international arbitration. He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his B.S. from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Robert D. Tananbaum will become a partner in the Corporate Department. A member of the Private Funds Group, Robert focuses on the formation and operation of private investment funds, including private equity funds, credit funds, hedge funds, growth funds, hard assets funds and secondaries funds, and advises fund managers on all aspects of the business of alternative asset management. He earned his J.D. from Cardozo School of Law, where he was awarded the Order of the Coif, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Cornell University.
