Practices & Industries

Paul, Weiss held its second annual Summer Associate Hackathon on July 15 in the New York office, bringing together summer associates, attorney advisors and partners for an engaging exploration of legal industry-focused AI technologies. Spearheaded by the Knowledge & Innovation team, led by Chief Knowledge & Innovation Officer Gina Lynch, the event featured an AI testing zone where teams faced off, tackling mock legal assignments using firm-approved AI tools Harvey and Hebbia, with just one hour to develop solutions and prepare presentations.

Partner judges including Chris Boehning, Jessica Carey, Jarrett Hoffman, Dan Kramer, Caitlin Melchior, Ray Russo, Mike Vogel and event moderator Bob Zochowski evaluated teams on creativity, innovation, process verification, technology recommendations, solution efficiency and presentation skills.

Advisors Jacob Cohen, Timothy Haney, Jonathan Jaroslawics, Jessica Kerner, Peter McDermott and Rana Matared provided guidance throughout the Hackathon, which emphasized responsible AI use, collaborative problem solving and technical literacy skill building that will position participants as future leaders in an increasingly AI-driven legal landscape.
