Paul, Weiss Secures Contempt Order Against Neo-Nazi in “Troll Storm” Case

Paul, Weiss obtained an order holding Andrew Anglin, the editor of neo-Nazi website “The Daily Stormer,” in civil contempt of court in a case brought by our client Tanya Gersh, a Jewish woman targeted online by Anglin and his followers. Anglin, who is also a white supremacist, antisemitic conspiracy theorist and Holocaust denier, initiated an online “troll storm” against Ms. Gersh, which led his followers to threaten and harass her and her family over the course of several months, causing her severe emotional distress.

Ms. Gersh previously obtained an order requiring Anglin to pay her $14 million for the damage he caused her. The May 11 order came as a sanction for Anglin’s failure to comply with the court’s prior order that he produce discovery in response to Ms. Gersh’s requests seeking information about Anglin’s assets.

In the order, the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana found Anglin in contempt and liable for attorney’s fees due to his failure to produce discovery responses. Anglin has 30 days to produce documents and respond to Ms. Gersh’s interrogatories. Should he fail to do so, the court warned that it may issue a bench warrant for his arrest.

The Paul, Weiss team includes litigation partner Daniel Kramer, counsel Robert Kravitz, and associates Matthew Stachel, Eliza Strong, Tarek Roshdy and Michael Bass.
