Counsel Hans-Günther Herrmann and China law consultant Yuan Yuan Zhou examined the new rules and regulations of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) in an article published by Asian Legal Business. On July 27 the CSRC promulgated revised regulations to allow more institutions to gain Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (QFII) status and to facilitate the execution of their investments. The article, titled "China's New QFII Rules Issued in July 2012," offers an overview of these rules, which provide more liberal qualification requirements, better operation of accounts and expanded investment options. The rules also allow QFIIs to accumulate collectively up to 30% ownership in PRC-listed companies. The authors also provide an English translation of the new rules. The article appeared in the September 2012 issue of ALB.
