Description of Program and Relief

Chicago Jewish Emergency Assistance Fund

Recognizing the financial burdens on those adversely impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak, the Chicago Jewish Emergency Assistance Fund is providing financial assistance to members of the Jewish community in the Chicago area. Funds are provided for one week’s worth of expenses.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Before applying, individuals are asked to first review existing federal, state, and city programs, to ensure they cannot receive adequate funding from another source.

To apply, individuals must complete an application which requires:

  • Full name and contact information, including mailing address and phone number;

  • A description of how the applicant has been affected financially by the COVID-19 outbreak and their weekly loss in net income due to the COVID-19 outbreak;

  • A calculation of the requested amount of funding for the current week for expenses including food, housing, health insurance, medicine, and auto expenses; and

  • A list of income from other sources including savings, government programs, commercial loans, and available family loans.
