Description of Program and Relief

Chicago Theatre Workers Relief Fund

The League of Chicago Theatres, with assistance from The Saints, has developed the Chicago Theatre Workers Relief Fund, which is providing one-time relief grants of up to $500 to Chicago area theatre professionals to help replace lost income due to theatre closures resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak. Funds are available to theatre workers who have had to stop work and are not getting paid, including those who were on contract, part-time employees, and those working on an unpaid stipend.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

The Fund asks that only Chicago area theatre professionals currently facing extreme need apply, and that individuals who are eligible for unemployment, or who have other income that can cover their expenses at least temporarily, not apply at this time.

To apply, individuals must send an email to the Fund containing the following information:

  • Full name and contact information, including mailing address and phone number;

  • Proof of paid employment at a Chicago area theatre that was scheduled to be in rehearsal or production during the COVID-19 outbreak; and

  • Documentation from the theatre employer that the individual will not be paid.

Application Deadlines (If Applicable)

Applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis.
