Description of Program and Relief

Season of Concern’s Biscotto-Miller Fund

Season of Concern has created an emergency relief fund providing short-term emergency financial assistance of up to $750 per month to members of the Chicago theater community who are experiencing serious medical issues, including those that may result from COVID-19.

Assistance is available to help pay for rent and mortgage payments, living expenses, utilities, telephone, dental, psychotherapy (limited to $65 per session up to 13 sessions), chemical dependency treatment, transportation and travel, and short term medical expenses. Assistance is not provided for taxes, credit card payments, loans, education, legal fees, court ordered payments, or union dues.

To qualify for assistance due to serious medical issues arising from COVID-19 infection, individuals must:

  • Have worked vocationally or without salary in the Chicago Theater Community in a theater setting at least once within the past year, including in dance, management, front of house, acting, design, music, technical theater, directing, playwriting, or any other aspect of theater;

  • Provide proof of work, including but not limited to a W2 form, contract, pay stub, a copy of a theater program identifying the role the applicant played in a production and the dates of performance, or an annotated resume or biography including verification of performance details;

  • Provide proof of testing positive for COVID-19; and

  • Provide documentation of bills for which payment is requested, including but not limited to pages of one’s lease specifying to whom and what rental amount is to be paid, copies of mortgage or maintenance bills, copies of past method of payment, or copies of other bills.
