Description of Program and Relief

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Assistance

WIC is a food assistance program for women, infants, and young children. WIC provides money in the form of WIC EBT card to buy healthy foods, and also provides information about nutrition, health, and breastfeeding. These offerings were previously in place, and waivers of certain requirements have been granted in response to COVID-19.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Information on eligibility can be found at: http://www.alabamapublichealth.gov/wic/

WIC benefits are available to:

  • Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or had a baby within the last six months who have low to medium income

  • Children under five years old living in families with low to medium income

  • Households with a total income equal to or less than the amounts shown in the WIC Income Guidelines

Waiver for physical presence of applicant has been waived through May 31, 2020.
