Description of Program and Relief

Extension of Expiration Dates for Certain Driver Licenses and Permits

Pursuant to Executive Order 2020-08, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will defer the requirements to renew Arizona driver licenses and driving permits that have an expiration date between March 1, 2020 and September 1, 2020, by 6 months from the expiration date. ADOT will also defer the requirements to submit a medical clearance card for commercial driver licenses until September 1, 2020.

Driver license cards that expire between March 1, 2020 and September 1, 2020 will be deemed valid for all purposes for which a driver license card would otherwise be accepted. The updated expiration date will be reflected on motor vehicle records for all impacted persons. Impacted persons need not obtain a duplicate credential, but if desired, may obtain a duplicate driver license or ID on ServiceArizona.com that will show the new expiration date.
