Description of Program and Relief

Business Tax Certificate Renewal Late Payment Interest and Penalty Waiver

In order to ease the burden placed on businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Fremont announced on March 31, 2020 that it would waive penalties and interest on late payments for certain business tax certificate renewals. Eligible businesses that have already paid penalties and interest on late renewal payments that the City has waived will receive a credit to their business tax account.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

To qualify for the waiver, the business tax certificate must have expired between December 31, 2019 and March 31, 2020 and be due for renewal between February 29, 2020 and April 30, 2020.
