Description of Program and Relief

COVID-19 Isolation and Recovery Shelters for the Homeless (Operation Comfort)

In order to provide a safe environment for those experiencing homelessness, the Alameda County Public Health Department is providing hotel rooms to isolate and recover from COVID-19.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

The program is open to individuals experiencing homelessness who either (1) have tested positive for COVID-19, (2) are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or (3) have been exposed to COVID-19. Unaccompanied minors are not eligible for this program.

Individuals who meet these requirements must contact their referral agency’s designated referral liaison who will help them complete the referral process. A list of approved referral agencies is available here. Referrals must be received by 7 p.m. to be screened that day. Any referral received after 7 p.m. will be screened the next workday.
