Description of Program and Relief

Emergency Measures

The City of Santa Ana enacted a wide range of emergency relief measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including:

  • Suspending street sweeping parking citations through the end of March;

  • Waiving late charges and late fees for any City-provided service;

  • Stopping utility service shut-offs for City-provided utilities;

  • Prohibiting the sale of consumer food items, goods or services for more than 10% above the price charged immediately prior to the City’s Local Emergency proclamation;

  • Providing eviction relief for residential tenants in conjunction with any State actions and support protections against business owners from foreclosures and creditors by working with State and Federal officials; and

  • Authorizing the extension of real estate agreements and contracts with the City without Council approval in order to allow development projects to stay on track.

Suspensions of street sweeping parking citations have been effective as of March 17, 2020 and will end March 31, 2020.

The other relief measures listed above are effective as of March 17, 2020 without any specified end dates.
