Description of Program and Relief

Suspension of Big Blue Bus Fares, Green Zone Parking Restrictions, Vehicle Towing, and Late Penalties on City Bills

The City of Santa Monica supplemented its local emergency proclamation to include temporary suspensions of the following:

  • Big Blue Bus fares;

  • Parking restrictions in Green Parking Zones;

  • Towing for abandoned vehicles, expired vehicle registrations, and delinquent parking citations; and

  • Late fees for City water and/or sewer bills, parking citations, refuse and recycling collection bills, Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) charges, Fire Prevention inspection charges, Transient Occupancy Taxes, Utility Users Taxes, and Parking Facility Taxes.

Additionally, penalty assessments related to business licenses and business improvement district assessments were frozen as of March 1, 2020, and suspended thereafter.
