Suspension of Certain Requirements for Teaching Credentials

The California Office of the Governor has modified certain requirements for individuals seeking to obtain teaching or school administrator credentials during the COVID-19 pandemic. For example, individuals otherwise eligible to enroll in teaching/administrative performance assessments will receive preliminary credentials if such testing was suspended due to the California statewide stay-at-home order.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Individuals who (1) were placed or employed in a local educational agency impacted by COVID-19, (2) were in the process of completing the Teacher Performance Assessment or the California Administrator Performance Assessment and prevented from doing so due solely to school closures, and (3) have successfully completed all other preliminary teaching or administrative service credential requirements may qualify. Other conditions may apply.
