Description of Program and Relief

Unemployment Insurance Application Call Center

As authorized by Governor Gavin Newsom’s Executive Order N-50-20, the California Employment Development Department (CEDD) will: (1) launch a new call center that will operate 7 days a week from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM to assist Californians with unemployment insurance applications and (2) increase Unemployment Insurance Branch staffing by 1,340 employees.

The hotline will be available starting April 20, 2020 and will be staffed 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, seven days a week, with no end date announced.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

All Californians requiring assistance in completing their unemployment insurance applications may utilize the CEDD call center
