Description of Program and Relief

Waiver of Property Tax Late Penalties for Those Impacted by COVID-19

In recognition of the financial hardships created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alameda County Office of the Treasurer and Tax Collector (TTC) will work with property owners to alleviate penalties for late property tax payments due to COVID-19. After the current property tax delinquency date of April 10, 2020, the TTC will begin accepting requests to cancel late fees for those property owners who can establish that they have been financially impacted by COVID-19. Property owners will remain responsible for the property taxes, but the TTC will work with them on an individual basis to determine when they must pay those taxes.
