Description of Program and Relief

Colorado Works Cash Benefits Assistance Program (TANF)

Colorado Works is Colorado's Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. It is a cash assistance program designed to assist eligible families with very low incomes to attain economic security by promoting job preparation, work, and family stabilization. Eligible applicants can receive monthly cash assistance payments, help with emergency household expenses, and/or services such as counseling, training, and employment assistance. TANF is a federally-funded program that predates COVID-19 and continues to be available to eligible participants at this time.

Colorado Works operates in all 64 counties and is delivered locally through each county's department of human or social services.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Eligible applicants are Colorado residents, who are either pregnant or have at least one child, and meet other federal, state, and county resource and income standards.
