Description of Program and Relief

Moratorium on Utility Shut-Offs

In light of COVID-19, the Illinois Commerce Commission has issued a moratorium on shut-offs for all utility companies across Illinois. The moratorium will remain in place until May 1, 2020, or the end of the state of emergency, whichever is later. Utilities are also prohibited from assessing late fees or penalties for nonpayment during the moratorium period.
