Description of Program and Relief

Temporary Moratorium on Wage Garnishment

The Governor of Illinois has issued an executive order suspending the statutes that permit the service of a garnishment summons, wage deduction summons, or a citation to discover assets on a consumer debtor or consumer garnishee. This order does not apply to domestic support obligations, including child support and spousal maintenance obligations.

This order does not relieve a debtor of any liability.
