Description of Program and Relief

Health Coverage Programs

Indiana’s Health Coverage Programs include traditional Medicaid, risk-based managed care, and a variety of services tailored to the needs of specific populations. Descriptions of these program areas are below, including any accommodations relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Healthy Indiana Plan brings health coverage to low-income and working adults through consumer-driven healthcare plans. The plan covers Hoosiers ages 19 to 64 who meet the following income levels: Individuals with annual incomes up to $17,829; couples with annual incomes up to $24,078; and a family of four with an annual income of $36,590. Per Executive Order 20-05 on the COVID-19 pandemic, Healthy Indiana Plan participants are temporarily not required to make premium payments. Hoosier Care Connect provides health coverage for aged, blind and disabled members who are not dually eligible for Medicare. The program also covers many of Indiana’s foster children. For more information and to apply, please visit: https://www.in.gov/medicaid/members/26.htm

Hoosier Healthwise, serves children and pregnant women. Per Executive Order 20-05 on the COVID-19 pandemic, Indian’s CHIP participants are temporarily not required to make premium payments. For eligibility information and to apply, please visit: https://www.in.gov/medicaid/members/174.htm

Home- and Community-Based Services.  Medicaid programs provide alternative supports and services to institutional care. These programs target specific populations who typically require additional levels of care than most members, such as seniors, individuals with mental illness or individuals with disabilities.

MED Works offers healthcare coverage for individuals who are able to return to work but still meet the Medicaid definition of disability.

HoosierRx helps low-income residents, aged 65 years old or older, to pay their monthly Part D premium. Members enrolled in a Medicare Part D Plan working with HoosierRx can receive up to $70 a month in assistance.
