Description of Program and Relief

Child Care Assistance Program for Critical Personnel

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Louisiana Department of Education opened the Child Care Assistance Program (“CCAP”) to support essential critical infrastructure personnel. This program offers families of critical infrastructure personnel subsidized care for children 12 and under at licensed childcare centers or through certified family childcare in-home providers. All families of essential critical infrastructure workers are eligible for CCAP, and applications will be expedited.

Dates Available

March 23, 2020 through duration of the health crisis. Initial certification will be valid for 30 days upon approval.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Must be a critical infrastructure worker and have a child aged 12 or under. For a full list of critical infrastructure workers, please click here. Critical infrastructure workers belong to the following industries:

  • Chemical

  • Communication and Information Technology

  • Critical Manufacturing

  • Defense Industrial Base

  • Energy (electrical industry, petroleum, natural, and propane gas worker)

  • Financial Services

  • Food and Agriculture

  • Hazardous Material

  • Health Care/Public Health

  • Law Enforcement, Public Safety, First Responders

  • Other Community Based Government

  • Public Works

  • Transportation and Logistics

  • Waste and Wastewater
