Emergency Order Affecting Unemployment Requirements and Workers Compensation Requirements

On April 7, 2020, Governor John Bel Edwards issued a proclamation suspending the requirement that claimants for unemployment insurance must register and search for work; however claimants still must report to an unemployment office for in-person meetings in the manner prescribed by the administrator. Claimants are also no longer required to wait one week before receiving benefits.

With respect to workers compensation, the proclamation suspended the medical examination requirement through April 30, 2020.
