Description of Program and Relief

Energy Assistance Program

Through the Louisiana Housing Corporation, COVID-19-related financial assistance may be available to help pay energy and heating bills. Assistance is determined based on household income. The monthly household income limit can be found here: https://www.lhc.la.gov/energy-assistance.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

To apply, one must provide:

1) Recent copies of your utility bills;

2) The last four consecutive copies of check stubs for employed household members;

3) Proof of unearned income (Social Security, Unemployment Insurance, Pension Funds, Disability, etc.);

4) Disconnect notice (if you received a shut-off notice from your energy company);

5) Proof of present address (rent receipt, lease, or deed, etc.);

6) Driver’s license or picture ID of head of household and Social Security card; and

7) Proof of total members living in your household and their Social Security cards.

The Louisiana Housing Corporation may request additional information to determine eligibility.
