Description of Program and Relief

State Supplement Program (SSP)

State Supplement Program (SSP) is a cash benefit for certain eligible, low-income individuals who are 65 or older, blind, or disabled. Although no specific guidance has issued with respect to COVID-19, affected persons may qualify if they meet eligibility requirements (below). Payment amounts are based on your income and living arrangements.

In order to receive SSP payments, the applicant must first apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). SSP payments are based on eligibility for SSI. The applicant may have income that is too high to receive an SSI benefit but still qualify for an SSP payment.
