Description of Program and Relief

Supplemental Nutrition Food Assistance Program (SNAP)

Michigan’s Food Assistance Program (FAP), which is part of the Supplemental Nutrition Food Assistance Program (SNAP), provides food assistance to eligible low income households and individuals. SNAP predates COVID-19 and households that previously received SNAP benefits will continue to do so. Additionally, due to COVID-19, Michigan is authorized to issue Emergency Allotments to ongoing SNAP households, which will increase current monthly allotments up to the maximum monthly allotment for a household of that size. Emergency Allotments will be delivered on ongoing SNAP households’ EBT cards.
