Description of Program and Relief

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) provides financial assistance to low-income families with children under age 18, or under age 19, if the child attending high school and is expected to graduate before age 19. Cash benefits are provided for the household’s children for clothing, utilities and other services. TANF is a federally-funded program that is administered in Missouri through the Missouri Department of Social Services. TANF predates COVID-19, and can be used by eligible participants at this time.
