Description of Program and Relief

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Montana’s SNAP program provides relief for individuals and families to afford food at supermarkets, grocery stores, and farmers markets. While no specific guidance has been provided for those affected by COVID-19, individuals and families adversely impacted by COVID-19 should be eligible if they meet general eligibility requirements.

To receive SNAP benefits, household income and other resources have to be under certain monthly limits, members must be U.S. citizens or legal aliens and must furnish or apply for a social security number. Ablebodied household members between the ages of 16-59 must register for work, and may be required to participate in a SNAP Employment and Training Program unless a specified exemption is met.
