Description of Program and Relief

Nevada Stays Writs of Execution and Garnishment

Pursuant to Executive Order 17, Nevada has suspended writs of execution and garnishment through the duration of the COVID-19 related state of emergency. No new writs of execution or garnishment may be issued or serviced until the COVID-19-related state of emergency declared on March 12, 2020 terminates or expires. All funds or property garnished or attached after April 30 must be returned immediately to the judgment debtor. Garnishment and execution actions currently being adjudicated by a court shall be stayed until the state of emergency declared on March 12, 2020 terminates or expires.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

The stay of garnishments and executions is not applicable to actions for, or any judgment awarding any child support owed to a parent or spousal support or any criminal restitution payable to victims.
