Description of Program and Relief

Various Utilities Suspend Cut-Offs, Late Fees, and Penalties

To help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, several utility companies have suspended cut-offs of service, late fees, and other penalties. Not all utility companies have done so, so Nevadans should check with their local company.

  • NVEnergy suspended disconnection for nonpayment for those directly affected financially by COVID-19, waived late fees and deposits, and made allowances for those unable to pay due to self-isolation. Additionally, NVEnergy has temporarily expanded Project REACH, an energy assistance program originally established to assist senior citizens, to apply to customers of any age that meet income guidelines, or are experiencing financial hardships due to COVID-19.

  • Southwest Gas suspended disconnects indefinitely in light of COVID-19 and offers flexible payment options to customers experiencing financial hardships.

  • The City of Henderson has temporarily suspended shut-offs of water service.

  • Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD) has temporarily suspended customer shutoffs for delinquent and/or non-payment.
