Description of Program and Relief

First Responder Worker’s Compensation

Provides Worker’s Compensation benefits for first responders, healthcare workers and funeral home workers exposed to COVID-19 in the course of employment.

Until the COVID-19 emergency is vacated.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

To qualify for this program, you must: (i) be a first responder, front line health care worker or funeral home employee; (ii) have been exposed to COVID-19 in the course of employment; (iii) either (a) (1)be subject to quarantine pursuant to an order of a treating health care provider or public health officer, (2) experience lost wages during the period of quarantine and (3) not be eligible for lost wage benefits from another source; or (b) test positive for COVID-19 and can show that the infection resulted from work exposure (funeral home workers must show that they were exposed to COVID-19 through exposure to a deceased individual who tested positive for COVID-19). Individuals satisfying (iii)(a) above may receive workers compensation and individuals satisfying (iii)(b) may receive wage replacement and medical benefits.
