Description of Program and Relief

Food Assistance Program – Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Ohio’s Food Assistance Program, known nationally as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), provides relief for individuals and families to afford food products by distributing Ohio Direction Cards (similar to debit cards) to eligible households. While no specific guidance has been provided for those affected by COVID-19, individuals and families adversely impacted by COVID-19 should be eligible if they meet general eligibility requirements.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Eligibility requirements are available at: https://ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/site/residents/resources/food-assistance.

To receive SNAP benefits, household income must be at or under 130 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. Some households that exceed the limit may qualify if someone in the household is elderly or disabled.
