Description of Program and Relief

Child Nutrition Program Meal Service During COVID-19 Outbreak

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has obtained approval from the United States Department of Agriculture to allow Pennsylvania schools that are closed due to the COVID-19 crisis to distribute meals to students at no cost while schools remain closed. Districts and schools must apply to the Pennsylvania Department of Education in order to participate in the program.

Available now to students from participating schools and districts with no specified end date.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

The meal service is available to students covered by districts and schools that have received approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to participate in the program. Schools and districts must apply in order to receive approval. The Department has begun to review and approve applications on an expedited basis.
