Description of Program and Relief

Unemployment Insurance

Rhode Island residents who are unable to work because their places of business have closed or their employers have directed them to stay at home without compensation due to the effects of COVID-19 may be eligible for assistance under the already existing Unemployment Insurance Program (“UI”). DLT is waiving the seven day minimum amount of time that claimants must be out of work to qualify for TDI/TCI benefits.

Eligibility information for UI is available here. Generally, in connection with claims relating to COVID-19:

  1. Applicants must clearly indicate impact from COVID-19 on application;

  2. Applicants must have earned wages in Rhode Island in the last 18 months.
