Description of Program and Relief

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (“PUA”) provides unemployment benefits to individuals who are not eligible for regular unemployment compensation or extended benefits but who are otherwise able to work and available for work except that they are unemployed, partially unemployed, or unable or unavailable to work due to COVID-19. Individuals covered under PUA include independent contractors, gig economy workers, and workers for certain religious entities. PUA benefits payments are retroactive starting on or after January 27, 2020.
