Description of Program and Relief

West Virginia Children’s Health Insurance Program (WVCHIP)

WVCHIP was created to help families who do not have other health insurance for their children. Children adversely impacted by COVID-19 should be eligible for WVCHIP if they meet general eligibility requirements. In response to the impact of COVID-19, WVCHIP is extending redetermination periods for current clients by three additional months.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Eligibility information is available here: https://chip.wv.gov/eligibility/Pages/default.aspx.

Children are eligible if they: (1) reside in West Virginia; (2) are under age 19; (3) are not eligible for West Virginia Medicaid; (4) have family income and family size within qualifying income guidelines; and (5) are United States citizens or qualified immigrants.
