Dave Curran and Brad Karp Author New Monthly Column in ALM Corporate Counsel

Chief Sustainability and ESG Officer Dave Curran and firm Chairman Brad Karp authored the first edition of a new monthly column in ALM Corporate Counsel, “Sustainability as Superlaw: Reinventing Your Playbooks.”
The authors discuss the “new age of superlaw,” in which general counsel must manage significant legal and reputational risks that arise from public commitments companies make to ESG issues, in addition to anticipating and handling companies’ legal obligations. Examples of superlaw include instances where companies publicly promise to reduce water usage, cut carbon emissions, pay a “living wage” or diversify their board and workforce. Dave and Brad suggest six ways that in-house counsel can reinvent their playbook and embrace superlaw.
