Description of Program and Relief
Unemployment Insurance Benefits
Unemployed workers affected by COVID-19 may be eligible for benefits under already-existing Montana unemployment insurance, which provides temporary income for workers who are unemployed. Emergency rules that went into effect on March 17, 2020 provide that claimants who miss work as a result of COVID19 are eligible for benefits, as are claimants who need to quarantine or take care of a family member due to COVID-19. The emergency rules also permit waiver of the one-week waiting period typically required before receiving benefits.
