Private Equity Digest: Sponsor Exits Part II: Managing Private Company Sales

October 18, 2013 download PDF

Attached is the latest issue of Paul Weiss's "Private Equity Digest." This issue continues last month's discussion regarding sponsor exits by examining considerations specific to portfolio company sales and methods of increasing sponsor IRR with respect to such a disposition.

Also, although we had hoped that September would show improvement from August's generally sluggish sponsor M&A activity, that has not proved to be the case in most instances. Overall global and U.S. M&A activity was up in September, but that was buoyed primarily by strategic activity. Sponsor-related M&A deals by volume showed a small increase, while the number of such deals were down. Private equity exits by number and dollar volume were also down. The only bright spot was US private equity fundraising, which saw an increase from August to September. We will keep you updated on any relevant developments.
