Digital Technology Group Chair Katherine Forrest spoke with Law360 about the impact of AI on the legal industry and on U.S. democracy. In a Q&A published on March 12, Katherine discusses her work training clients and the judiciary on a wide range of AI-related topics. She also comments on AI’s potential to enable access to justice and increase lawyer efficiency, expected types of AI-related litigation—such as algorithmic bias, fraud, IP and competition cases—and AI’s ability to spread disinformation, among other topics.

Within the legal industry, AI “will bring great efficiencies to clients in terms of how certain kinds of legal work can get done,” Katherine says. “The need to have a lawyer spend a lot of time researching something that they used to have to spend hours and hours on, and writing it up, is gone.
