Paul, Weiss Assists With Launch of the Equitable Commute Project E-Bike Initiative

Over the course of July, a team of Paul, Weiss attorneys assisted in the launch of the Equitable Commute Project (ECP)’s E-Bike Initiative, a city-wide project that brings together environmental and public policy-focused nonprofits, private businesses and local NYC government agencies with the goal of expanding access to safe and reliable transportation for lower-income workers. The initiative, created by the ECP, a coalition that includes Empire Clean Cities, New York University, Brightside Strategies LLC and others, receives funding from Uber, DoorDash and others, which is used to offset a portion of the price of e-bikes that comply with city regulations. On July 31, at ECP’s kickoff event, delivery workers traded in their old e-bikes and batteries and purchased new ones from participating bike shops with the subsidy provided by ECP. Our attorneys played an important role in launching the project by counseling the ECP and negotiating and drafting on behalf of ECP certain contracts, releases and other documents.

The Paul, Weiss team, supervised by corporate partner Megan Spelman, includes corporate counsel Ari Nishitani and associates Tyler Lee, Zoe Nwabunka and Avesh Krishna, and litigation counsel Paul Paterson.
